Pet Shipping to New Zealand with JCS Livestock

Shipping pets to the Land of the Long White Cloud is becoming a complicated process, with a compulsory quarantine period having been introduced already this year, and more changes to follow next year. Quarantine lasts ten days on arrival in Auckland, Christchurch or Wellington, with the pet accompanied by import and export permits to enter the country.
There are also a number of tests and vaccinations that are required, which is why JCS Livestock are well placed as the Pet Transport partner for Global Footprints. With over 20 years' experience in livestock shipping we can help with tips and advice on the shipping process as well as offering a number of services to make the move easier, including pet flights, collection in our air-conditioned vans, vet trips and applications for quarantine space and import/export permits. We're available 24 hours a day for your questions, so you don't need to be worried about the time zone.
In 2012 the regulations are changing to take pets to New Zealand, with the addition of a rabies vaccination and a rabies blood test before the pet can enter the country. These changes mean that the preparation time for shipping pets to New Zealand is at least 3 months before export, depending on what vaccinations and tests have already been done. There are some things that you can do in advance in order to keep this preparation time to a minimum, but it's best to get in touch first so that we can make an assessment of your pet's health records and set up an emigration timetable for you. It's imperative to plan well in advance so as to avoid any problems at the time you and your furry friends want to travel to New Zealand.

Pets travel safely in IATA approved containers in the hold of the aircraft where the heat and pressure is kept at the same levels as in the cabin. They tend to sleep through the whole process and arrive well rested at the other end. They don't have food in their containers but they do have water and this is topped up at any stopping point along the way. We're able to cater for all shapes and sizes of pets and as a specialist livestock transport company we're used to shipping everything from small dogs to Big Cats- we move animals for most of the country's zoos and wildlife parks, we're prepared for anything!
